Well, it has been so long since I tried this blogging thing! When I first got my website I gave it a go and failed miserably. I really didn't understand what a blog was and to be truthful, still really don't! So...I'll just make it whatever I want it to be...and I'll just write whatever I want to and it will be as long or short as I please! It is like my journal or diary tonight. Not many people want to publish their diary or journal entries, but I am not normal...anyone who knows me will tell you! I am an open book. That is not always a good thing! But, I love to write and tell stories so I decided to take another stab at this blog! When I reflect on today, the only word I can think of to describe it was SMELLY! I started the day out with a 3 month photo session. In that session the baby had a massive diaper blow out....ON MY LAP! Now, when it is your own baby it is bad enough, but when it is not your baby and you have massive amounts of poo all over your pants that isn't yours....well, it is just kind of gross! I have an awful gag reflex and it took every ounce of will power not to start gagging! Good thing I absolutely LOVE babies so no amount of poop can run me off from them! My second session was a newborn girl. She was so little and dainty and adorable....but it didn't take long for her to show me that she could fart like a man. She was ripping them loud and proud the entire session. Several times they were loaded and diaper changing had to follow making for an unhappy baby! As if it wasn't enough that I had a diaper blow out 3 month old, a poop machine newborn, but then I followed it up with a 9 month old girl that could put any man to shame with her farting. They were loud and just non stop the whole session! I laughed so hard thinking about it....something strange was in the air today, something very gassy!
Then, at the end of my second session I had so much excitement as while I was walking my clients out I found a box on my porch. I recently was given some essential oils from a friend to try as my family was combating illness and I fell in love with them. I ended up splurging and treating myself to a Young Living Essential Oil kit! I was so anxious to get all those little bottles so that I could try them all out! Before I only had three total, now I have like 13! As soon as the box came I was ripping it open and trying out my new diffuser. I started with a Pinterest recipe I had seen for "relaxation". I figured after the crazy day I was having I could use a little of that. So, I made a concoction in my diffuser of Stress Away and Peppermint and laid down on the couch to see if it would help me calm down! I will say that within about 10 minutes I had dozed off. But, maybe it was just a coincidence because I can doze off at any given day if I lay down without any oils. After 4 hours of diffusing I was not so sold on this Stress Away oil. I must admit I thought it was SMELLY in a not so great way! It had put an odor that I wasn't real fond of in my entire main level of my home. What a bummer! I was so excited and to not like the very first one I tried had me a bit down in the dumps!
So, by this point the family was all home and I was excitedly sharing my Pinterest board of oil recipes with three uninterested males in my life. But, they did all three admit they had a runny nose. So...I set about making another concoction...this one Thieves and Purification....it was supposed to stop the sniffles. While I am not sure if it did that as most of them left the room and went about their business so it sat and diffused in a people-less room, I must admit I really liked the smell this mix was putting out. I already knew I loved Thieves, but this Purification oil was a great surprise! I started researching and found some great ideas for how to use it and can't wait to try them out. First off is going to be putting it in my pubescent son's stinky tennis shoes....smelly, smelly, smelly!
As my night rolled to an end, I decided to try one more concoction of oils. I now had 3 diffusers in my home. Both of my sons and I have been struggling with sleeping issues lately. Two of us just unable to get our minds to turn off at night to get to sleep so just miserably tired all day and my oldest has had no troubles falling asleep but has been waking up multiple times a night for no reason. So....I set up diffusers in all three rooms and mixed Lavender and Frankincense in them. Right away my 13 year old son went to bed and within 30 minutes he was out like a light. It usually takes him a couple of hours to go to sleep! The Frankincense smells absolutely awful. Reminds me of the stuff the priest shakes at me at Catholic services...I never liked that smell! But, if it will make him get some well needed sleep then I will put up with that smell! My oldest son has since went to bed and I am about to turn in too....will have to see in the morning what all of our opinions are on this SMELLY oil! Signing off now to go see if I can catch some zzzzzzzzzzz's!
